Människa vid gränserna / L’Humain, à la frontière

Människa vid gränserna / L’Humain, à la frontière

Sigtunastiftelsen, Sigtuna, Sweden

21 October – 1 December 2023

My beyond is earthly. It is not a lost paradise, but rather a green poetry — this world that we experience unceasingly. Its materiality resounds like an incantation for those who know how to listen.

Elvire Soyez

Through her art, Elvire Soyez explores the human condition as a being at the threshold between outer and inner worlds, between heaven and earth. There is no strict dividing line. Instead, the boundary is porous and permeable, and it is precisely this that interests Soyez.

Earlier this year, she was awarded the Axel Theofron Sandberg Watercolour Prize “for establishing a poetic pocket of resistance in a time of harshness and uglification.”

Through art, and the power of imagination, she seeks to reach beyond the limits of the visible.

At Sigtunastiftelsen, Elvire Soyez presents ceramics, sculpture and embroidery, drawing inspiration from garden design and religious artefacts, among other sources.
